The WIDER Beach Club
The beach area – a distinguishing feature of the WIDER yachts – opens up to 160m2, an incredible space to sunbath and relax, with a seawater swimming pool and separated areas for a spa and a gym. The area can recover the WIDER 32 – a 10m rigid tender – and the Floating Launching System makes entry and exit maneuvers considerably easier for the crew when launching.
The WIDER serial hybrid propulsion
WIDER 180 represents a step further forward in the constant WIDER evolution towards 100% electric technology. The WIDER 180 is powered by a serial hybrid propulsion system combined with Azimuthal pods. Two inline variable speed diesel generators, combined with the state-of-the-art WIDER power management system and the latest battery technology, serve the hotel and propulsion requirements of the vessel. This system reduces consumption while at the same time facilitating unprecedented range.
All onboard energy sources are controlled by the WIDER Power Management System, a smart and fully integrated system which controls the power supplied by the shore connection, the gen-sets and the battery packs, distributing it between the hotel requirements, the propulsion system and the recharging of batteries, as required.
Our dedicated partner in this project, and the supplier of our WIDER Power Management system, is the market-leading, global powerhouse, Nidec Industrial Solutions.
The Azimuthal pod propulsion system affords significant advantages compared to conventional shaft-line propulsion, including:
- increased reliability
- fuel efficiency
- greater range
- shallow draft
- lower noise and vibration
- reduced maintenance
- greater flexibility
The propulsion system is also completely modular, meaning the WIDER 180 can cruise using only the battery packs, in ZEM (Zero Emission Mode), or with up to two inline diesel generators powering the electric motors which form part of the pods. This way it can cruise at a higher range of speeds while continuing to enjoy limited specific fuel consumption.
Accommodation
One of the main and best features on board the WIDER 180 is the Owner’s suite with its 80m2 of surface plus the private terrace overlooking the sea, which opens off the full-beam cabin.
The ample guest quarters comprise four en-suite cabins but there is the possibility to arrive up to seven cabins, if choosing a different layout in the lower deck. With the engine room amidships, the four sizeable guest cabins are located at the stern and have a private direct access to the beach club.
An elegant lift connects the three decks, for any eventual necessity.
On the main deck, there is a huge professional kitchen ideal for hosting dinners and parties aboard.
The WIDER 165 is built to comply with the latest standards by Red Ensign Group (Reg Yacht Code) for crew and presents seven twin cabins plus a sizeable cabin for the captain, strategically located near the wheelhouse.
Leisure equipment
Thanks to its Floating Launching System, the stern can be converted into a spacious garage ideal for carrying the WIDER 32 as a tender, although this can be adapted for a client’s specific needs. This system makes entry and exit manoeuvres considerably easier for the crew when launching. When the WIDER 32 is not recovered, the space is used as a salt-water swimming pool or a full-beam lounge thanks to a special platform – stored in the roof – that makes the area walkable.
Range
The WIDER 180 has a maximum speed of 16 knots. At the cruising speed of 12,5 knots the range results in 5.000nm and 7,700nm at the ecological speed of 9 knots. Also available at Zero Emission Speed, the superyacht can run solely on batteries for silent cruising at 6 knots for a range of 10 hours, or for short movements, avoiding the need to start generators to move anchorages or for early starts.
