Wider News - Logbook Issue 34

      Dear Readers,

When our first 150’ superyacht sold in December I thought that she would be consigned to the archive of Logbook newsletters. But, like a Hollywood diva that refuses to leave the stage, the newly renamed M/Y “Bartali” clearly had other ideas. I have recently returned from this year’s prestigious Showboats Design Awards ceremony in Kitzbühel, where the WIDER 150 was honoured with two further Awards – one for “Best Exterior Design & Styling – Motor Yacht below 48m” and the other for “Most Innovative Motor Yacht”. This brings a total of eight prominent awards for the first superyacht to be designed and built by our team.
Results like this make me feel very excited about what the future holds for WIDER, and in this month’s Logbook we look forward to telling you more about the steps we are taking to build upon our success.

Sincere Regards,

Given the WIDER 150’s perfect score of 100/100 in RINA’s Comfort Class (awarded based on the remarkably low levels of noise and vibration), it has always been vitally important that the WIDER 165 not only maintain these standards as a minimum but that we strive to reach levels that push the boundaries even further.

Adorning a superyacht with suitable accessories is no small task. WIDER are delighted to partner with Boutsen Design Yachting to ensure that the job is carried out to the highest possible standard of excellence.

Few names have influenced modern yacht design as extensively as Fulvio De Simoni, designer of the WIDER range of superyachts and express cruisers. His relationship with Tilli Antonelli goes back over three decades to 1985 when he was commissioned to design the first Pershing 45’ but even before then Fulvio had made an impact in yachting circles.

    Dear Readers,

A new year always brings renewed energy, often new resolutions, and new opportunities. At WIDER we ended 2016 with celebrations from the sale of two new superyachts but far from resting on our laurels we are now looking to the future. This edition of Logbook reviews an event that we are especially looking forward to, but also a new partnership and a new construction that give us reason to look ahead with confidence.

For all of our readers I sincerely wish that 2017 brings you a year of success and happiness, along with more opportunities for us to meet and work together along the way.

Sincerest Regards,

The prestigious ShowBoats Design Awards is fast approaching and this year the WIDER 150 has been nominated for no less than four categories.

It is said that you are never too old to learn. Although there is vast experience in the WIDER Superyacht Division, production techniques also improve and develop and will continue to do so as we strive to gain efficiencies which allow for shortened construction times.

WIDER’s reputation for innovative products goes beyond even their award winning power system and advanced transom design.

    Dear Readers,

As the end of the year approaches this is always a period to reflect on achievements during the last 12 months as well as to consider plans for the year ahead.

For WIDER, this has certainly been the best year in our history with the sale of two large yachts – the WIDER 150, which left the shipyard at the end of April, and a new build WIDER 125, to begin construction in Q1 of 2017.

With the WIDER 165 in advanced stage of construction and to be launched in late spring of the New Year, as well as discussions with several interested parties for further new construction projects, I can already tell that next year will be just as busy.
All at WIDER will take some well-earned rest to enjoy the festivities with friends and family as well as to recharge our batteries for the exciting year ahead.

For all of you who are observing the holiday I extend my best wishes for you to enjoy a peaceful time with your family and loved ones. For my friends and colleagues whose customs are different to mine, I hope that this year has been a prosperous and happy one for you.

Happy New Year to all!

Vi auguro di cuore un Felice Anno Nuovo!

Looking forward to seeing you in 2017.

Sincerest Regards,

Wider Logbook Extra – December 2016

Dear Readers,

This is the second time in a month that we have needed to send you a Logbook Extra with additional exciting news about our progress… and this one is especially thrilling and satisfying for me personally.

The first child is always particularly special, even if we love all of our subsequent children equally dearly, and this is just how I feel about the yachts we build. It is therefore with genuine delight and no little pride that I announce that we have now concluded the sale of the WIDER 150, the first of our superyachts to be delivered.

Of course, work doesn’t stop here: we are pushing ahead with the plans for the recently sold WIDER 125, which starts construction in the New Year, and the production of the 165’, which is due to be launched in late spring and is available for sale.

Given how much is to be done we will be working up until Christmas so if you would like to make a late visit to the yard, please don’t hesitate to let me or my sales team know.

Kindest Regards,

Hot on the heels of the recent sale of the first WIDER 125, the Italian shipyard based in Ancona is delighted to announce the sale of their larger WIDER 150 just two months after her world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show in late September. The Canadian customer was assisted in the purchase by Golan Levi from Swell Yachting.

“We are thrilled that our new line of unique yachts are getting the recognition we believe they deserve… the new owner was attracted to the range of features we have included on board, particularly the diesel electric propulsion system which offers such a quiet mode of operation…something the new owners value extremely highly,” commented Tilli Antonelli, CEO & Founder of WIDER srl.. A range of 2,600 nm is expected at 12 knots, increasing to 3,400 nm at the economical speed of 10 knots. The yacht has a top speed of 14 knots and can also run solely using batteries in Zero Emission Mode.

The WIDER 150 will return to the shipyard for minor works to tweak the yacht’s interior to the new owner’s specific requirements and will be cruising the Mediterranean in the spring, newly christened M/Y Bartali.

“The new owners are passionate about water sports… They loved the design and layout of the WIDER 150 but I believe the huge owner’s tender in the beach club was the final element that won them over to WIDER,” added Antonelli.

WIDER currently have the 165’ Cecilia in construction, available for sale at 30m euro, with delivery in time for summer 2017. Construction of hull #1 of the WIDER 125 will begin in February. WIDER have confirmed that they have the capacity to build a second unit in parallel, and are currently in advanced discussions with several interested parties. More information will be released in due course.

Additional information on the WIDER 150

Constructed entirely in aluminum to increase performance and allow for greater freedom and flexibility during the build process, the WIDER 150’s elegant silhouette was created by Fulvio De Simoni in collaboration with Tilli Antonelli and the in-house WIDER design team.

The remarkable design of the WIDER 150, which includes a 7m indoor/outdoor swimming pool, 75 square meter master stateroom, and her ability to run in near silence using only her batteries, has resulted in unprecedented levels of interest and a collection of awards from the most prestigious organizations, including the World Superyacht Awards, World Yachts trophy and RINA.

Wider News - Logbook Issue 31

    Dear Readers,

October’s issue of Logbook includes one of our most exciting news releases so far, as we confirm the sale of our first WIDER 125. This important milestone is the result of a season of successful Boat Shows, with the level of interest and enthusiasm that has been displayed by visitors to our stands very encouraging for the future.

I trust you will enjoy reading news that regards each of our current yachts – more news on this in the near future – as the 165 draws closer to completion and we bring you more detail about the team responsible for the WIDER 150.

Sincerest Regards,

A busy Boat Show season for the WIDER sales team yielded great results as the Superyachts division announce the sale of the first WIDER 125. Like the 150, this exciting project has been designed by Fulvio De Simoni and includes the same successful diesel electric power package.

As the exterior of the WIDER 165 approaches completion, attention has turned to interior details. Ideaeitalia, the company responsible for the interior design of the WIDER 150, have once again shown their creative talent as they worked with the owner and his representatives to compose a unique and elegant combination of colours and materials.

Coming from a sea faring family in Ancona, the WIDER Superyacht Division’s Captain Claudio Candelaresi has never been far from newly constructed luxury vessels.

Wider News - Logbook Issue 30

Dear Readers,

Although our newsletter is released once a month to cover updates to activities within the WIDER world, we have, on occasion, released a Logbook Extra to cover a particularly special event…. And this is the case again now.

In the last edition of the Logbook, a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned how busy we had been during the recent shows in Cannes and Monaco. I am now delighted to confirm that we have signed an agreement with a customer to build our new, exciting WIDER 125. I am confident that she will be without equal in her size range!

The build will start in the New Year and she will be delivered in the Spring of 2019.
Many thanks go, of course, to all my team for their efforts but, as I have told them already, the hard work starts now.
I am currently in Ft. Lauderdale attending the Boat Show from the 3rd to the 7th of November so, if you would like to hear about more of the details, please come to see us at the Superyacht Pavilion, stand no. 664.

Kindest Regards,

After the successful premiere of the WIDER 150 at the Autumn European shows, WIDER are delighted to confirm that they will start construction of a new WIDER 125, commissioned by a Northern European client at the recent Monaco yacht show. Delivery will be in late spring of 2019. WIDER have confirmed that they have the capacity to build a second unit in parallel and are currently in advanced discussions with several interested parties. More information will be released in due course.

The all-aluminium vessel, with exterior design by Fulvio De Simoni will retain the distinctive WIDER style of the W150 and the W165 as well as the same diesel electric technology. The WIDER 125 will include a full beam master stateroom on the main deck with a large opening terrace together with owner’s study and gym (or sixth cabin, depending on personal preference. This is a unique feature for yachts of this size and will be particularly appealing should the owner decide to place on the charter market). Guests will be treated to four lavish staterooms that stretch further aft than on a traditional motor yacht of this size, well into the area usually reserved for an engine room. A range of 2,600 nm is expected at 12 knots, increasing to 3,400 nm at the economical speed of 10 knots. The yacht has a top speed of 14 knots and can also run solely using batteries in Zero Emission Mode.
